Norwegian authorities are probing potential insider trading linked to the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize announcement after suspicious betting activity surfaced on prediction market Polymarket. The investigation centers on three accounts that collectively profited $90,000 from wagers placed hours before Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was declared the winner.

Bloomberg reports one user dubbed 'dirtycup' netted $30,000 from a $70,000 position. The Norwegian Nobel Institute condemned the incident as a criminal exploitation of confidential information, noting bets spiked after the committee finalized its decision earlier in the week.

The case has reignited debate about prediction markets' vulnerability to information asymmetry. While no cryptocurrencies were directly involved, the incident underscores how blockchain-based platforms like Polymarket create new vectors for market manipulation in event-driven trading.
